Join the South Pasadena Public Library as its children’s librarians read stories, share finger plays, songs, and flannel board stories! Story hours will take place outside in the library grounds on the Oxley Street side, weather permitting. Masks are strongly recommended from 2 years old. Participants should bring a blanket to sit on the grass and plan to limit interactions with people outside the household. Story hours will be held inside the library community room in case of inclement weather.

Virtual piano lessons are offered to build a foundation of music theory and basic concepts of music reading. Students learn the basics of fingering, rhythm, tempos and dynamics by doing exercises and playing songs. Intermediate students will take their learning to the next level with more complex techniques and melodies. Each student will be assigned loan keyboards, if needed, to use for the duration of the session.

Join the Altadena Library to learn the basics of hand sewing through fun and simple felt crafts! Participants will learn beginner’s hand stitches and how to use a sewing pattern. No experience necessary! All projects are suitable for beginners but will increase in difficulty. Participants do not need to have attended previous workshops to register. This program is best suited for children ages 7-12. Younger children can work with a parent to guide them through each step and older children can work on their own. Registration is required as stocks are limited. During this day, participants will make miniature autumn owls!
