New Delhi (PTI): Delhi police have arrested a Chinese woman for staying in India under a false identity and allegedly engaging in “anti-national activities”, officials said Thursday.
The woman has been identified as Cai Ruo and is from Hainan province in China, they said on Thursday. She was residing in India as a Nepalese citizen and was detained at Majnu ka Tila in North Delhi, police said.
During the verification, a certificate of Nepalese citizenship in the name of Dolma Lama was recovered from him. However, when she was interviewed at the regional foreigners’ registration office, it was discovered that she was a Chinese citizen and had traveled to India in 2019, they said.
Based on reports that Ruo is involved in “anti-national activities” and currently residing in India as a Nepali citizen, she was arrested at Majnu Ka Tila, a Delhi police statement said.
A case was filed against her on October 17 under Sections 120 B (criminal association), 419 (fraud by impersonation), 420 (fraud and dishonest inducement to deliver goods), 467 (falsification of securities) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Aliens Act, police said.
Further investigation is underway, they said.
