Ceremonial and off-field activities for Games 1 and 2 of the 2021 World Series


Major League Baseball today announced the ceremonies and off-court activities for the first and second games of the 2021 World Series. The 117th Fall Classic between American League champion Houston Astros and National League champion Atlanta Braves begins tonight, Tuesday, October 26, at Minute Maid Park with LIVE coverage starting at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX, FOX Deportes and ESPN Radio. ESPN Radio will provide live national coverage of all 2021 World Series matches.

NATIONAL HUMAN SHOWS AND GOD BLESS AMERICA: The national anthem of Games One and Two will be performed by Keke Palmer (Game One) and the Petty Officer First Class of the US Navy Giavanni walker (Game Two), respectively.

FIRST CEREMONY PANELS: The first ceremonial throws for the games will be handled by two Astros Legends who also happen to be immortalized in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Craig biggio will launch the first ceremonial pitch of the Fall Classic this evening as Jeff bagwell will take care of these tasks for the second game.

FALL CLASSIC LEGACY TO GIVE BACK TO THE HOUSTON X ROBERTO CLEMENTE PRIZE: Two major efforts in the spirit of community and philanthropy will take place in Houston ahead of Game 2. Earlier today, MLB and Houston will host a community event at the Houston Area Women’s Center Shelter, where they will unveil their plans to renovate a playground for the children who reside there. This effort is part of the Fall Classic Legacy initiative, which is designed to give back to the host communities of the World Series. Also on Game 2, MLB will celebrate the legacy of baseball’s greatest humanitarian by announcing the recipient of the 2021 Roberto Clemente Award. The winner will attend the community event at HAWC alongside Luis Clement, son of the late Hall of Famer.

SPECIAL GUESTS TO GAME ONE: Members of the 2021 Little League World Series Championship team from Taylor North Little League in Michigan will see the first game of the Major League version of the World Series.

“PLAY BALL!”: Houston’s beloved sports figure Andre johnson (former Houston Texans WR) will announce “Play Ball!” before the start of Game One.

GAME BALL DELIVERY: Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston will deliver game balls from games one and two to the mound. Daelyn davis, 13, a Royal High School freshman will deliver the game ball for the first match – his first professional baseball game – in view of his favorite player (Jose Altuve). Zacharie Garcia, 17, of Lamar Consolidated High School, will deliver the ball for the second game.
